How To Arrange Your Own Fingerstlye Solo Guitar

Guitar solos, which often contain varying degrees of improvisation, are used in many styles of popular music such as blues, rock and metal, jazz styles such as swing and jazz fusion.

Fingerstyle Guitar is the technique of playing the guitar by plucking the strings directly with the fingertips, fingernails, or picks attached to fingers, as opposed to flatpicking (picking individual notes with a single plectrum called a flatpick) or strumming all the strings of the instrument in chords. The term is often used synonymously with Fingerpicking (although “fingerpicking” can also refer to a specific stylistic subset ). Music arranged for fingerstyle playing can include chords, arpeggios and other elements such as artificial harmonics, hammering on and pulling off with the fretting hand, using the body of the guitar percussively, and many other techniques.

Normally, fingerstyle guitar are played in classical, and flamenco types. But these days, many people use fingerstyle type of guitar to play pop song just like tears in heaven, classical gas by mason williams, and else.

Actually its quite simple to arrange your own type of fingerstlye solo guitar. the basic of creating a fingerstyle solo guitar is simply combine the chords and the rhythm of the song. for example :

if the rhythm is :

e–3—-3—-1—-0——-

b————————2–

g—————————-

d—————————-

a—————————-

e—————————

and the chord is C which :

e–0—

b–1—

g–0—

d–2—

a–3—

e–0—

then just simply combine it. note : there are many ways to combine between the chord and its rhythm, I will show you one of them. For example:

e–3—-3—-1—-0——–

b————————-3–

G——————0——–

d—————————–

a——–3——————-

e——————————

(sample taken from http://www.sologuitartabs.com/ )

So simple right. If you interested in arranging solo guitar tabs by your own, you can see the example in Solo Guitar

Traditional fingerstyle guitar is particular to its time and place, drawing heavily upon local culture, but allowing for personal expression and innovation. Each of the artists presented here is a master of fingerstyle guitar, whether two or three finger picking. With rare exceptions most were born around the turn of the century or in its early years. From the Carolinas, Kentucky and Tennessee to Texas, they fashioned a deeply influential manner of playing wrought from rags, blues, ballads, and native airs that permeated their times and gave impetus to any musician, knowingly or not, who picks a string today. Features Merle Travis, Doc and Merle Watson, Elizabeth Cotten, Roscoe Holcomb, Josh White, Sam and Kirk McGee, Mance Lipscomb, and Rev. Gary Davis.
